Brian Kelly pours gasoline on the Alabama-LSU rivalry with fired shot
By Ethan Lee
During a speaking engagement in Houston, LSU football head coach Brian Kelly found an opportunity to take a shot at Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Brian Kelly earned bragging rights during his first season in Baton Rouge and he’s clearly taking advantage of them. In a trip to the Bayou City to chat with the Touchdown Club of Houston, LSU’s head coach took the time to take a pretty solid shot at Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
When speaking to folks in Houston, Kelly had this to say about how he loves college football (and beating a particular team):
That’s a pretty solid line to use in a place that has plenty of ties to LSU (and just generally likes to see Alabama lose).
LSU football: Brian Kelly takes shot at Alabama Crimson Tide during trip to Houston
And again, Kelly has earned the right to take this shot at the Crimson Tide.
After all, Kelly and his LSU football team found a way to upend Alabama during the new LSU coach’s first season in Baton Rouge. The win propelled the Tigers to the top of the SEC West standings (and ultimately enabled LSU to win the West) while also handing Alabama its second loss of the 2022 college football season.
Alabama ultimately ended the season with a better overall record at 11-2 after beating the Kansas State Wildcats in the Sugar Bowl while LSU finished the year at 10-4 after losing to Texas A&M and Georgia later in the season.
But still. Until Saban and the Crimson Tide manage to beat Kelly, he’ll have bragging rights. Alabama and LSU will meet up on November 4. We’ll see who comes out on top of this rivalry that is fun once again.
