RBC Canadian Open DraftKings picks with top plays and fades for Oakdale Golf Club and building the best PGA DFS lineup for the week.

Good thing there isn’t anything else going on with the PGA Tour other than the RBC Canadian Open this week, right?

Amid all the drama of the merger with the PIF and the future of golf, there is a tournament being played this week, Canada’s national championship. We head to Oakdale Golf Club in North York, Ontario, a new venue for this tournament. For our RBC Canadian Open DraftKings picks, that makes things tough with limited course knowledge and no course history.

Yet, we persist. We’ve been hot with our PGA DFS picks lately and we’re looking to keep that going. So let’s dive in with our RBC Canadian Open DraftKings picks with top plays and fades from each pricing tier before building our PGA DFS lineup for the week.

RBC Canadian Open DraftKings picks for PGA DFS lineups: Top Plays

$10,000: Tyrrell Hatton ($10,200) – I am once again asking you to see how well Tyrrell Hatton has been playing this year. He’s second in this week’s field in weighted Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green over the last 20 rounds and hasn’t finished outside the Top 20 in that span. In a field that is top heavy but not deep, he has been arguably the only one who is consistently finishing near the top of leaderboards and gaining strokes across the board. Also Consider: Rory McIlroy ($10,500)

$9,000: Shane Lowry ($9,400) – Shane Lowry is my pick to win in Canada this week and why wouldn’t he be? He’s trending majorly with his ball striking over the past few weeks and has played well in this event the past three tournaments. Yes, it’s a different course, but his game is well-rounded and he should be suited to make a big run at the top of the leaderboard. Also Consider: Matt Fitzpatrick ($9,900), Corey Conners ($9,800), Justin Rose ($9,700), Tommy Fleetwood ($9,600),

$8,000: Adam Svensson ($8,500) – Though his best finish in his last four starts is just T27, the numbers say that Svensson is moving big time in the right direction. His ball striking, which had fallen off a bit early in the year, has returned but the short game hasn’t gone away either. In a weak-ish field, I think the game he’s displaying should show up in a real way in Canada, his home country. Also Consider: Adrian Meronk ($8,600), Ludvig Aberg ($8,300), Michael Kim ($8,000)

$7,000: Carson Young ($7,100) – If the Carson Young disrespect is going to keep up like this, we’re going to keep taking advantage of it. Young has been stellar of late, gaining more than 1.0 weighted stroke on approach and just under 1.0 strokes putting over the last 20 rounds. He also has four finishes of T21 or better in his last six starts. He’s a real gamer right now and Young should 100% be in your lineup at this price. Also Consider: Eric Cole ($7,900), Alex Smalley ($7,800), Lee Hodges ($7,500), Vincent Norrman ($7,500), Mark Hubbard ($7,300), Patton Kizzire ($7,100)

$6,000: Sam Bennett ($6,900) – Point blank, I don’t plan on going into the $6K range this week. But if you have to, I do like Sam Bennett in this spot. Now a pro, the low amateur at The Masters has plenty of game and is a great ball striker. He isn’t at a disadvantage with course knowledge and I think his talent could push him overall to a good finish this week. Also Consider: Zecheng Dou ($6,900), Callum Tarren ($6,700)

RBC Canadian Open DraftKings picks for PGA DFS lineups: Top Fades

$10,000: Sam Burns ($10,500) – In case you’re new here, I’ve not been big on Sam Burns of late because the numbers say that his ball striking has simply been awful lately. However, a T16 at Memorial does have me a bit worried that he might be rounding back into form. Even still, when it’s between him, Hatton and Rory, he’s very clearly the odd man out if I’m paying into the $10K range.

$9,000: Sahith Theegala ($9,200) – Frankly, it’s tough to put Theegala down as a fade because it’s impossible to not like the guy generally. But for PGA DFS this week, I don’t see it. He doesn’t have a finish inside the Top 35 in his last three starts and the driver has been too squirrelly for my liking. In a deep $9K range, I’m simply passing on him this week.

$8,000: Keith Mitchell ($8,900) – Other than being a pretty notable name, I don’t know why Mitchell is at the top of the $8K range, but that’s not a price I’m paying for him. His approach play has been completely suspect of late and his finishes, even with made cuts, haven’t been anything to write home about. It’s not a profile that I can trust, especially on a course that we have no history with.

$7,000: Aaron Wise ($7,800) – Frankly, this is all about Wise still coming back and getting healthy. We’ve seen him for just two starts recently, a T50 at the AT&T Byron Nelson and missed cut at the PGA. His approach play has been abysmal in those two starts and, coming to a venue we have no history with and are guessing about in some aspects, that should be a concern for anyone considering him for PGA DFS lineups.

RBC Canadian Open: Best DraftKings golf PGA DFS lineup

  • Tommy Fleetwood ($9,600)
  • Shane Lowry ($9,400)
  • Ludvig Aberg ($8,300)
  • Michael Kim ($8,000)
  • Lee Hodges ($7,500)
  • Carson Young ($7,100)

I’m fully confident starting this lineup in the $9K range this week, not only because the $6K range is a tough scene, but doubling up on guys with real win equity in that range with Lowry, who we already discussed, and Tommy Fleetwood, who continues to display top-notch ball striking and stellar overall play.

As for Aberg, the former Texas Tech star is making his pro debut and he has talent for days. He’s one of the best drivers in the world already and could make noise at a price he might not be at for long. In the case of Kim and Hodges, while sometimes inconsistent, both have been striking the ball well over the last 20 rounds and should be solid at this tournament if they can keep that form.
