USMNT rumors: Adams to Chelsea, Balogun too pricey, no adventure for Tolkin
Today’s USMNT rumors include Tyler Adams being linked with Chelsea. Folarin Balogun is reportedly too expensive for Inter Milan and the New York Red Bulls have rejected a bid for John Tolkin.
USMNT rumors: Tyler Adams for Chelsea
Tyler Adams is the last USMNT player standing at Leeds United, who begin their campaign in the Championship this weekend. The midfielder is still injured and has not featured in any pre-season matches. Although, he was included in their new kit promotional video.
It was expected that Adams would leave Leeds this summer, following their relegation to the Championship. However, despite him being linked with many teams in English soccer’s top flight and across Europe, Adams has stayed put.
Chelsea is looking for a midfielder and recently had a £80 million bid rejected by Brighton for Moises Caicedo. According to The Times the Blues “are considering other targets, with Leeds United’s Tyler Adams and Ajax’s Edson Alvarez under consideration.”
Adams will be a much cheaper option than Caicedo, especially as it is thought that the American has a relegation clause in his contract.
USMNT rumors: Folarin Balogun too pricey for Inter Milan
Folarin Balogun has been linked with a host of top clubs this summer. However, it appears that Arsenal have priced him out of a move. Fabrizio Romano has reported that “Inter have currently stopped talks for Folarin Balogun deal as USMNT striker is considered too expensive.”
Balogun is a very talented player who scored 22 goals for Stade de Reims last season. Although, the Gunners’ valuation of him which is reportedly £45-50 million, is quite a lot for a player who has had just one good campaign.
USMNT rumors: No adventure for John Tolkin
John Tolkin is enjoying a very good season for the New York Red Bulls, where he has made six assists already from left-back. However, it appears that Tolkin will not be going on an adventure right now.
MLS Transfers has revealed that “RBNY have rejected a bid from Mainz for John Tolkin and do not plan to sell this summer. (RB) Leipzig still trying to sell him on their long term plans that he can be a Bundesliga player in the future. (Red Bull) Salzburg loan is an option in 2024.”
