NFL training camps are under the way and players are getting bitten by the injury bug already. The Atlanta Falcons weak side linebacker Sean Weatherspoon dislocated his finger in practice.

From CBS Sports:

"Sean Weatherspoon, who missed much of the offseason as well recovering from knee surgery, ran off the field with trainers early in the practice with what was later called a badly dislocated finger."

It is a minor injury and one that won’t effect his availability going forward in meaningful games. Linebackers often play through hand injuries anyways.

The Falcons have a thin linebacking corp and he is expected to step up this season.

From CBS Sports:

"In La Canfora’s camp notes from Flowery Branch, he noted that Weatherspoon “is clearly the leader of [the defense], which was obvious as he patrols the sidelines between drills, coaching people up, always chatting, aking sure teammates are getting from one practice field to the next as required (no easy task with two teams comprising about 180 players over three practice field running around today).”"

It has even lead to former NFL player Shawn Merriman wanting to un-retire and play for the Falcons defense. Merriman took to Twitter to publicly plea for an opportunity and even offered to make his contract non-guaranteed and incentive based.
