However, Microsoft’s new smartwatch may not be a smartwatch after all.

According to a new report from WinSuperSite, Microsoft’s new piece of wearable tech is more of a fitness tracker like the Samsung Gear Fit than the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The report cites unnamed Microsoft insiders as sources for the new information.

The report states that the new device from Microsoft will include sensors for heart rate, steps taken and calories burned. It also matches an earlier report that claims the device will feature up to 11 internal sensors.

If these latest reports are true about Microsoft’s now not a watch fitness tracker, then the company will have to use the its cross-platform support as a major selling feature. The device will work with not only Windows Phones, but iOS and Android devices as well.

The wearable tech will work with Bing Health & Fitness and Healthvault, along with third part apps.

The report closes stating that the device will launch in the fourth quarter of 2014, and will be the same price as the Samsung Gear.
