BYU Cougars unveil patriotic themed helmets for game against Houston Cougars
This week is all about patriotism and remembrance across college football. With the anniversary of 9/11 being recognized by many in college football and with Maryland going all 200th anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore on us there’s little shortage on patriotism.

On Wednesday, the BYU Cougars entered the patriotism circle for this week. They unveiled a brand new helmet logo for the game against the Houston Cougars, a game that just so happens to take place on 9/11.
It’s not much of a departure from the logo or helmet that they currently use, but here are the pictures from the Twitter account of BYU’s director of football operations, Zach Nyborg:
It’s a nice look and not too gaudy of a way to remember all those who lost their lives on 9/11, while also reminding us of the healing power that sports brought to this country in the weeks and months after this tragic terrorist attack. BYU has a long-standing tradition of service, being part of the Mormon church and all. Houston also put out its own patriotic helmet sticker, per Greg Wrubell’s Twitter account:
Both of these schools have a special moment with playing this game on Thursday night, but they aren’t alone as over 20 schools have done some sort of patriotic theme within the week prior or after the anniversary of 9/11.
