The Titans got on the board first, thanks to an 11-yard touchdown pass from Jake Locker to Kendall Wright with 4:46 remaining in the opening quarter. Locker would make it 14-0 just 11 seconds into the second quarter with an 11-yard rush. Soon thereafter, Locker injured his throwing hand and missed the rest of the game.

But the Titans didn’t miss a beat with backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst. The 32-year-old tossed another 11-yard score to Wright and a 75-yard touchdown pass to Justin Hunter, helping Tennessee take a 28-3 lead with 2:44 remaining in the second quarter.

However, the Browns fought back. A 1-yard touchdown pass from Brian Hoyer to Jim Dray helped Cleveland cut the deficit to 28-10 heading into the break.

Billy Cundiff’s second field goal of the day and a Brett Kern blocked punt that resulted in a safety helped Cleveland make it 28-15 with 11:02 left in the game.

Then, a Hoyer 17-yard score from Hoyer to Travis Benjamin with 6:49 left made it 28-22. Hoyer hit Benjamin again with 1:09 remaining for the game-winning 6 yard-score.

Whitehurst finished the game 13-21 for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Wright was the team’s top rusher with 43 yards and Hunter the top pass-catcher with 99 yards.

Hoyer was 21-37 for for 292 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Ben Tate rushed for 123 yards and Taylor Gabriel added 95 receiving yards.

Next Sunday, the Titans will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at home, while the Browns face the Pittsburgh Steelers at home.
