There had been rumors circulating for a few weeks now as to when Apple would launch the next wave of the iPad. Late October was always suggested to be the timeframe, but it looks like Apple will be jumping the gun just a little bit. Invites have now been sent out for the October 16 event.

During the October 16 event, Apple is expected to launch both a new iPad Air and iPad Mini.

Expected product upgrades include faster processing power, the A8 chip that is included in both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, along with the fingerprint scanning technology that has long been a part of the iPhone. Also, as we reported a little while back, a gold iPad is looking to make its debut.

The iPad mini is expected to stay at its current 9.7 inch offering, however the iPad Air is expected to become the biggest ipad yet clocking in at 12.9 inches.

Lately, iPad sales have somewhat stalled, and the iPhone 6 Plus is likely going to gobble up some of the iPad Mini sales. The product line needed somewhat of a breath of fresh air breathed into it, and this is exactly what Apple is hoping to do at the event.

Alongside the unveiling of the iPads, Apple is expected to launch OS X Yosemite, which was revealed earlier this summer during the Worldwide Developers Conference. Obviously with a new OS, it would make sense for Apple to debut the new line of Macs as well.

Look for plenty of information to come from Apple on the big day. October 16 will be the final product launch reveal of the year for the tech company, and on the heels of a successful iPhone 6 launch, 2014 figures to be looked upon with favor by the California based company.

Stay tuned for all the info from the event.
