While Devon Still isn’t a household player by any stretch, the Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman has been in the public eye over the past few months due to his four-year-old and her fight against cancer.
Still, who was a late training camp cut by the Bengals was informed he would be kept around on the practice squad due to his hard work which would also allow Still to keep his daughter Leah on the NFL’s health insurance policy.
A few weeks later Devon Still, who broke Cincinnati Bengals jersey sales records in effort to raise money for Leah’s medical bills was called up to the active roster and will play in front of his daughter for the first time on Thursday night against the Cleveland Browns.
Before heading to the stadium though Still had one major important task to take care of though – a tea party with his daughter.
How awesome is that?! So often athletes (and celebrities) tend to get put into a box that elevates them above others but they too have real life problems and scenarios that they must deal with.
In addition to watching her father play football for the first time, it’s believed that Leah will be part of a presentation in which the Cincinnati Bengals will donate a $1.25 million dollar check to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center which was amassed from a portion of the above mentioned jersey sales.
Here’s to a wonderful night for Devon, Leah and the entire Still family who continue to fight through a tough situation.
