Steve Ballmer unveiled the Los Angeles Clippers’ new logo on Conan! Wednesday night. The web was left buzzing about the new look for the organization, some liking the logo and many not being too fond of it. Regardless of the execution, though, everyone could agree that moving on from the past is a good thing for the Clippers.

However, they may have reached into the recent past for the inspiration for their logo. EA Sports tweeted on Thursday morning that there are some shocking similarities between the new Clippers insignia and the logo for NBA Live 06:

The two logos are so similar that you don’t need a walkthrough as to why this is a little more than curious. All that’s missing is the “RS” in Clippers appearing in red rather than black.

With Ballmer and the Clippers turning this new page in their history, you’d think they’d have gotten a bit more creative than drawing from a video game logo. That may have not been intentional, but it’s what happened in practice. We’ll see if this discovery sparks and action or comment on the part of the Clippers.
