Denver Nuggets Andre Iguodala to Opt Out of Contract, Become Free Agent
By Bryan Rose
In some shocking news, Denver Nuggets swingman Andre Iguodala has decided to opt-out of his contract, this according to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Per Wojo:
"Denver Nuggets forward Andre Iguodala has decided to opt out of the final year of his contract and enter free agency, Yahoo! Sports has learned."
The Nuggets have said they were made aware of the decision recently:
"“We are fully aware of Andre’s intentions and he’s well aware of how much we want him back,” Kroenke said. “Andre us a huge priority for our organization.”"
Just a few weeks back, Iggy himself, who would have been due over $15 million dollars for the upcoming season said he was unsure of his future with the Nuggets, prompting teammate Ty Lawson to jokingly threaten the nine year veteran on Twitter. Team President Josh Kroenke days ago reiterated his desire to keep the former Arizona Wildcat in the Mile High city, stating that Iggy was more than just a “one year” rental.
Opting out could be nothing more than semantics for the 2012 NBA All-Star in hopes of securing a long term, more lucrative deal with the Nuggets or maybe the Illinois native wants to see what he can command on the open market. We’ll find out soon enough.
