As a sports fan there’s a good chance you’ve watched the 1989 film ‘Major League’ which is centered around struggles of a fictionalized Cleveland Indians team.

More from NCAA Softball

On that roster is pitcher Rick ‘Wild Thing’ Vaughn, played by actor Charlie Sheen who many would compare to a modern-day Brian Wilson of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The overly eccentric Vaughn is known for his famed plastic, black horn-rimmed glasses which just so happen to the frame of choice for University of Louisiana Lafayette junior softball pitcher Christina Hamilton.

Unlike Vaughn, Hamilton’s glasses are void of any lenses though that wasn’t always the case as the pitcher explained Friday afternoon.

Appearing on ESPNU, Hamilton stated that one of her lenses fell out and rather than taking the glasses off, she simply pushed out the other lens and continued to pitch at the urging of a teammate who suggested the one-lens glasses would appear silly.

The look became an instant sensation which has lead to fans wearing replica glasses in the stands.

So far so good as Hamilton and her Rajin’ Cajuns have emerged onto the scene as one of the best NCAA softball teams in the country and are coming off an impressive win over powerhouse Arizona during a recent super regional game.
