Just days after the franchise took a nasty public relations hit for a questionable press conference featuring starting running back Ray Rice, who allegedly was involved in a fight with his then finance, they’re back at it – this time regarding running back Lorenzo Taliaferro.
A fourth-round draft pick, Taliaferro was booked into a Virginia jail on Saturday, charged with destruction of property and public drunkenness.
“Lorenzo Taliaferro, who two weeks was drafted by the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, was arrested early Saturday morning and charged breaking a window in a taxi cab.”
According to the report, a police officer who was on patrol in the area witnessed the window of the taxi being broken and then spoke with the driver who stated it was Taliaferro and members of his group who allegedly broke the window after a shouting match.
Taliaferro reportedly left the scene, though, he may not have known police were looking for him as he was found about a block away.
All his charges are of the misdemeanor variety (at least currently) so punishment shouldn’t be too harsh for the young running back, though, probably not the way he was hoping to begin his NFL career.
The 138th pick overall, Taliaferro was the 2013 Big South Offensive Player of the Year award winner, finishing his two-year stint at Coastal Carolina with 356 carries for 2,086 yards and 32 touchdowns.
Ravens coaches recently remarked about his solid his pass protection was during team practice.
