Witch doctor from Ghana claims he caused Cristiano Ronaldo’s knee injury

We all know there are some ridiculous superstitions in sports, but this might be a new one. Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo dealt with a knee injury late in the season, which was capped with a Champions League final win, Real Madrid’s 10th trophy.

But that knee has all of Portugal worried about their superstar heading into the 2014 World Cup, especially since Portugal are in what is considered to be the toughest group with Germany, the United States and Ghana.

Speaking of which, a Ghanian witch doctor named Nana Kwaku Bonsam – which translates literally tp “Devil of Wednesday” – is taking responsibility for the injury and reminding everyone that he predicted it back in February.

“I know what Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury is about, I’m working on him,” Bonsam said in an interview with the Kumasi-based Angel FM, via the Guardian.

“I am very serious about it. Last week, I went around looking for four dogs and I got them to be used in manufacturing a special spirit called Kahwiri Kapam.

“I said it four months ago that I will work on Cristiano Ronaldo seriously and rule him out of the World Cup or at least prevent him from playing against Ghana and the best thing I can do is to keep him out though injury.

“This injury can never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is his thigh, next day it is something else.”

Only two teams advance from the group, and Ghana might see Portugal as a threat for one of those two spots and not the United States, hence why Clint Dempsey has been spared his wrath. Of course with Ghana’s track record against the United States in the past two World Cups you can’t blame them for focusing on Portugal.
