Bill Simmons calls out Minnesota Timberwolves owner

The Minnesota Timberwolves, despite a struggle in 2013-14 were likely hoping that another year of Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love would potentially bring the franchise out of mediocrity and possibly even find themselves a playoff birth.

Of course, those dreams were quickly crushed when Love allegedly informed the Timberwolves that he would not re-sign with the team come the end of the upcoming season, putting the T’Wolves in an extremely unenviable position.

To make matters worse, the team had no head coach after Rick Adelman decided to retire, leaving the T’Wolves in a state of peril.

Deciding to keep the sinking ship afloat, owner Glen Taylor  and president of basketball operations Flip Saunders decided it would be best if Saunders, who formerly coached the organization, returned to the sidelines as announced earlier on Thursday afternoon.

That didn’t sit well with many, including famed ESPN scribe and Grantland editor Bill Simmons who took to Twitter and ripped the Wolves ownership.

“Flip Saunders is a head coach/team prez/part-owner??? Kudos to Glen Taylor – with Sterling gone, he’s officially the NBA’s worst owner. Wow.”

Clearly holding no punches, Simmons unleashed on Taylor who for whatever reason, continues to put an absurdly large amount of faith in Saunders despite really never giving much reason for such.

For what it’s worth, the addition of Simmons to the sideline is said to have no impact on what the Wolves plan to do with Kevin Love.

Publicly, the team has stated they plan to retain Love though privately, a variety of sources have hinted Minnesota is gearing up to move their unhappy star.
