Germany and Portugal square off on Monday in one of the most intriguing match ups of the World Cup so far. Both are considered legitimate contenders and it should be an epic clash and fortunately for Portugal, they’ll have Cristiano Ronaldo in the line up.

More from World Cup

“Cristiano is training well, he’s training hard and we are sure he’s going to be 100 percent to help us and to have an excellent game,” Portugal goalkeeper Eduardo said, via FIFA.com.

That is big news for for Portugal who are in the “group of death.”

“Of course, Ronaldo is good. You’re talking about the best player in the world. It’s like the other good players in the other teams that can make a difference,” Eduardo added. “We’re ready for anything, but of course with Cristiano it’s better for us. Of course we are a group, a lot of good players and nobody wins alone. But of course with Cristiano it’s better for us.”

Germany captain Philipp Lahm played down the significance of Cristiano Ronaldo being available for the game.

“With Ronaldo, I am taking it that he will play but it makes no difference to us,” said Lahm, via FIFA.com. “He is an exceptional player but we are preparing normally as if he is going to play, as if he will be able to play and we think he will be able to play. For him too, it must be special to face us again, he must be desperate to finally beat us.”
