The Orlando Magic have one of the youngest teams in the NBA, a team that is likely to get younger after the 2014 NBA Draft. Some have suggested the Magic may attempt to acquire a handful of veterans to expedite a return to the postseason, but if they do it won’t be in free agency.

That’s the line of thinking from Josh Robbins who says he doesn’t expect the Orlando Magic to make a big splash in free agency.

Such a sentiment is likely to frustrate fans of the organization who have suffered through some rough times since Dwight Howard’s departure (and some may say during Howard’s tenure with the organization). Free of some looming contractual obligations, the Magic will have money to spend but it sounds like they may keep it in their pockets, at least for now.

Of course, just a few days ago there were rumors suggesting that the Orlando Magic could have interest in Sacramento Kings restricted free agent, Isaiah Thomas. However, given his restricted status, the Kings are able to match any offer he receives and it’s the expectation they will do so for any ‘reasonable’ offer. Thomas also likely wouldn’t be of interest if the Magic, as expected, do draft a point guard.

Still, with just $25 million dollars in guaranteed salary on the books, the Orlando Magic are going spend some money. How they spend it will be up to the front office, but it sounds like the dollars will be more wide spread instead of giving one player a massive deal.
