“We’ve been playing some brilliant football,” US goal keeper Tim Howard told FIFA.com. “We’ve been able to open some teams up. We’re not world-beaters yet, but we’re standing toe-to-toe with some big teams.”
The United States might once again catch a break in terms of injury, Portugal was without Pepe and Fábio Coentrão when they played. Belgium could be without their first-choice centre-backs, captain Vincent Kompany and Thomas Vermaelen.
“I don’t know about Vincent and whether he will be fit,” said coach Marc Wilmots, via FIFA.com. “We will see how it evolves.
“Thomas, though, has not enough time to be fit by tomorrow. He will be fit if we make the quarter-finals. He will return to full squad training in a day or two. Marouane is fine, no problem.”
On the flip side of that is news that forward Jozy Altidore could be returning.
“We’ll we don’t know how much because we need to see how things go, but he’s available and this is what we want,” US coach Jürgen Klinsmann said, via U.S. Soccer’s website. “This is what we hoped for, this is what the medical staff is working since the injury on him and they’ve done a tremendous job day and night with Jozy, so just having him with us tomorrow is huge and how many minutes, we’ll see that through the game.”
This is a game you can’t miss, even though it unfortunately comes on during the work day at 4 pm ET. If you don’t have an extra screen or a mobile device to stream it, or your boss won’t let you, then you might be thinking you’re out of luck. There is one way you can catch all the action, you can listen to the game on Sirius XM FC and it will be on ESPN Radio, according to Live Soccer TV.
