Kevin Durant recruited to Toronto Raptors by Drake at OVO Fest (Video)

On Monday night, actor turned ‘rapper’ (my apologies Biggie) Drake took the stage for his set at the 2014 OVO Fest and in the process decided to do a bit of recruiting for the Toronto Raptors.

With Drake hyping up the crowd, the Young Money rapper decided to thank Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant for attending and then asked the crowd to do him a favor – let him know how much Raptors fans would like to see Kevin Durant playing in Canada.
There was no camera on Kevin Durant so his reaction wasn’t known, though it’s clear the crowd and Drake had some fun with the idea.
Now some might question if this is tampering on the part of Drake considering he’s been routinely touted by the Toronto Raptors organization as their ‘Global Ambassador’. Well, technically it could be if Drake was on the Raptors payroll but there has been no indication of such at this point. Given that, there’s no basis for tampering, despite his close ties to the Raptors and MLSE.
Even if, that would be an absurdly dumb thing to haggle over if you were the NBA but we’ve seen them pick up on extremely small details before and make a mountain out of a mole hill.
Drake’s Raptors aren’t the only team interested in potentially making a bid for the 2016 free agent as Kevin Durant’s hometown Washington Wizards are said to be waiting in the wings if he hits the open market.
Needless to say, it’s going to be a long couple years filled with rumors.
