Russell Wilson says Andy Dalton’s contract ‘has nothing to do with me’
By Mike Dyce
The Cincinnati Bengals signed quarterback Andy Dalton to a six-year extension worth $96 million. That deal initially shocked people, but looks like a front-loaded, team-friendly deal in the end.

That drew some comparisons to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who two seasons left on a four-year $2.198 million dollar contract and a Super Bowl ring in his possession. Any comparisons though won’t be made by Wilson himself how ever.
“That has nothing to do with me,” Wilson told USA Today’s For The Win. “I just have to go out and play well. I don’t focus on that kind of stuff. I ignore the noise.”
Wilson certainly stands to get a huge pay raise, and making $662,434 during a season when you’re defending a Super Bowl title seems especially low for the star quarterback.
Nevertheless, the Seahawks are poised to have another big year and Wilson was ready and willing to praise his teammates.
“We feel great,” Wilson said. “The guys look unbelievable. Percy Harvin is doing really well. Same with Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse. Those are guys that look extremely good.
“And obviously to have Marshawn [Lynch] back out there helps as well. The guys are clicking. We’re very confident. We’re all on the same page.”
