Kansas City Royals rumors: Greg Holland admits fatigue
By Bryan Rose
The Kansas City Royals looked to be in a woeful position come MLB’s trade deadline. Unsure if they were to be a buyer or a seller, the Royals were in an unenviable stance and seemingly needed a strike of lightning to re-energize their season.

They received just that as the Royals began reeling off victory after victory and have now found themselves not only contention for a Wild Card berth but the American League Central crown. Of course, to make their first postseason birth since 1985, the Kansas City Royals are going to need a team-wide effort, including continued dominance from closer Greg Holland.
However Holland has looked rather shaky in recent outings and there is fear that he could be wearing down from the constant work. It’s something Holland all but admitted suggesting that fatigue has got the better of him recently.
“You get a certain level of fatigue, at this point in the season, regardless of how often you’re used or not,” Holland said. “Just from the everyday grind of trying to get ready for a baseball game every day. I just haven’t been as sharp as I want to be the last few outings.
“But it’s translated into wins. That’s the good news. I’m pretty confident that when I get back to where I want to be, we’ll win those games, too.”
A closer fighting his way through fatigue come the final month or two of the season isn’t unheard of and many times a few days off will do the trick. Hopefully such will be the case for Greg Holland and the Kansas City Royals.
