The Minnesota Timberwolves are set to trade All-Star forward Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a matter of days though had the Cavaliers had their way, Love may not be the only T’Wolves player on the move.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

In desperate need of a rim protector (a void the Cavs will currently fill with Brendan Haywood), there were rumors suggesting that the Cavaliers were interested in trading for center Gorgui Dieng. However, according to Sam Amico of Fox Sports, the Minnesota Timberwolves have no desire to trade Gorgui Dieng at the current moment.

"He (Gorgui Dieng) would be an excellent pickup, precisely the type of guy the Cavs are seeking. But it sounds as if Minny has absolutely no desire to part with him, even for a No. 1 pick — which in the Cavs’ case, will likely be late in the first round. So their picks have lost their appeal. For the most part."

The Minnesota Timberwolves know they have the leverage in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers, so they don’t need to include him for any reason as it’s the Cavs who are mouthwatering over Kevin Love.

A 2013 first-round pick, Dieng had a very solid season for the Minnesota Timberwolves last year and appears to be at minimum a very serviceable off the bench big man. However, he has shown flashes which make you believe he could eventually become more valuable which is why the T’Wolves wound prefer to keep him around, especially given the preimum on young, big talent.
