If you had to dissect the game of Minnesota Timberwolves point guard, Ricky Rubio, you’d likely suggest that his shooting and defense need work.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

That’s not exactly news considering those were the two pitfalls of Ricky Rubio when he entered the NBA, though the hope was that he’d improve on both and become a superstar talent given his impressive ability to see the floor.

So far that hasn’t been the case as Ricky Rubio is still a sub-par defender, though his effort is far improved. His shooting however remains problematic, but that’s something the point guard is hoping to change this season as he’s been working with a shooting coach in effort to improve.

A player working with a shooting coach during the offseason isn’t groundbreaking news though more often than not improvement is seen. If that proves to be the case, that will be fantastic news for both Ricky Rubio and the Minnesota Timberwolves as opposing defenses will no longer be able to sag off Rubio on the perimeter.

Understandably it’s still likely to be a work in progress, but improved shooting will go a long way to bettering Rubio’s game and making him more of an all-around player.

It wouldn’t be the only change that Rubio has experienced this offseason either as he looks noticeably bigger after putting on some muscle.
