Early Monday morning new footage of Ray Rice’s horrific elevator incident with then fiance (now wife) emerged and needless to say, its stomach turning in nature.

More from Baltimore Ravens

Understandably the Baltimore Ravens are now facing a tough decision regarding their starting running back, especially given the team can not suspend him as noted by our own Josh Sanchez. So what’s the next step? As Sanchez mentioned in his piece, releasing Ray Rice is a possibility though such a move would be rather costly.

Still, it might be something the Baltimore Ravens will need to do in effort to rid themselves of Ray Rice as team officials around the league predict the team will release him in the near future.

At this point the Baltimore Ravens don’t seem to have any other options. They could of course stand by him and ‘help’ him with counseling and anger management classes (something that was part of the NFL’s punishment) though the backlash against the organization for doing so would likely (and understandably) be very strong.

As Dan Wetzel also notes, you have to think if the Baltimore Ravens do decide to cut Ray Rice, his playing time in the NFL would be over. Nobody is going to take the PR hit of signing Ray Rice as the new video is beyond damaging and nothing short of despicable behavior.
