The Cincinnati Bengals have two young running backs with potential to be the best one-two punch in the league. The Bengals selected Giovani Bernard in 2013 and Jeremy Hill in 2014. Both were second round picks. If Hill uses Bernard’s season last year as a roadmap towards his own production, then he can expect his role on the team to increase remarkably.

“I told him after the game myself on the plane that I know he needs to play,” offensive coordinator Hue Jackson said, via Cincinatti.com. “We drafted him to play. I don’t know if it’s so much because it’s Atlanta or anybody else, he needs to play.”

Hill had four carries in his first regular season game with the Bengals. In Bernard’s first game, he had the same number of carries, which jumped to eight in the second and ten in the third.

Hill wasn’t worried about his limited role in his first game.

“Some games just go that way,” Hill said after the win against the Ravens on  Sunday. “That’s what Hue talked about. Just going forward this season, they have a plan for me. I’m not going to make a big fuss about it. It’s just the way it goes. I’m just happy we won, I was excited, man, it was a great first game to get out there and play against the Ravens. And we got the win and so I’m excited about the week.”

The Bengals host the Falcons at 1 p.m. on Sunday in their home-opener.
