A good day for the Cincinnati Bengals coming off the a win over the Atlanta Falcons has been greeted by bad news: what was once thought to be turf toe has turned into

Depending on the severity of the injury, the Bengals could be without Green for some time.

More from Cincinnati Bengals

Against the Falcons, Green’s presence wasn’t missed. Behind the legs of Giovani Benard and Jeremy Hill, the Bengals rushed for 170 yards, scoring two touchdowns in the process. This led to the rest of the field being opened up for Andy Dalton to operate–he finished the game with 252 yards and 1 touchdown.

Despite the receiving core playing well in Week 2, there’s no one on this roster that can replicate what Green does on a weekly basis. Since being drafted in 2011, Green is third in receiving yards (3,964) behind Calvin Johnson (5,301) and Brandon Marshall (4,088), and seventh in touchdown receptions (30) behind Jimmy Graham (36), Calvin Johnson (35), Rob Gronkowski (34), and others.

In the future, it’s a must Green is present if the Bengals want to continue proving they’re one of the best teams in the league.

Up next, the Bengals face off against the Tennessee Titans (home), New England Patriots (away), Carolina Panthers (home), Indianapolis Colts (away), and Baltimore Ravens (home). Depending on if Green is healthy and available, the Bengals could struggle through this stretch.
