Green was limited in practice on Wednesday, and held out of practice entirely on Thursday, but there was never any doubt that he would miss Sunday’s game. However, after a few plays, he went to the sidelines to have his foot examined, and ended up going to the locker room with a slight limp.
The Bengals say that Green will not return to the game. The Bengals are already missing wide receiver Marvin Jones, and tight end Tyler Eifert. Both were unavailable to play today. Green exited the game without making a catch.
This is not a good sign for the Bengals, who are playing one of the top offenses from week one in the Falcons. If they were to get into a shootout, they would be without three key components to their passing game.
Cincinnati is looking to improve to 2-0 for the first time since the 2006 season when they won their first three games of the season.
They are currently tied at 3-3 with 9:37 left in the second quarter.
The club removed the questionable from Green’s return, and who can blame them? It’s a long season, and they have key pieces in place for a playoff run. Why risk injuring maybe the biggest piece even further in week two? Andy Dalton will just have to find another way to get the Bengals on the scoreboard.
