It’s been said that the NFL will continue to work like clockwork until the bottom line starts to hurt. It may not be at that point just yet, though it’s getting alarmingly close.

On Monday afternoon, hotel chain Raddison pulled their sponsorship deal with the Minnesota Vikings and now league-wide beer sponsor Anheuser-Busch has expressed disappointment in the NFL.
While the beer manufacturer preferred to remain quiet in regards to recent NFL discretion’s, the Adrian Peterson incident has forced their hand. In turn, Anheuser-Busch responded with a firm stance, essentially firing a warning shot at the NFL.
“We are disappointed and increasingly concerned by the recent incidents that have overshadowed this NFL season. We are not yet satisfied with the league’s handling of behaviors that so clearly go against our own company culture and moral code. We have shared our concerns and expectations with the league.”
In addition, according to USA Today, PepsiCo has expressed concern to the league though has not given an official statement at this time.
Granted, if Anheuser-Busch was to pull their sponsorship of the league (which has not been suggested in the least bit) another company would jump at the chance to be associated with the NFL, so it’s not as if A-B has a ton of leverage here. Still, it speaks volumes that they even released the statement.
