Microsoft has long been hinting at a major upgrade for their operating system, and while Windows 8 wasn’t the most warmly received product, the company is hoping that Windows 9 changes course. It appears that September 30 is set to be the date in which the company shows off the newest OS, Windows 9, for the first time.

Invitations have been sent out, and they read, “join us for what’s next for Windows and the enterprise.” In an email provided along with the invitation, it is noted the event will contain information for both technical and enterprise customers.
Microsoft seems to be going back to what works with Windows 9. They have already shown that a redesigned start menu will be making its way back into Windows 9. With the newest operating system, Microsoft will also be getting rid of the Windows 8 “charms.”
Although at this point everything is strictly a rumor, it can be difficult to place stock in unproven facts from Microsoft. A small-screen tablet was expected at the company’s spring event, but instead the Surface Pro 3 was unveiled.
Microsoft is going to be going on stage from San Francisco at 10am pacific time on September 30, we will definitely have more details at that time.
Considering that the buildup for Windows 9 continues to grow, it seems likely that this is exactly what Microsoft has up their sleeve. While it can be difficult to place too much stock into something prior to any confirmation, Windows 9 is likely Microsoft’s only possible next big announcement. We should have clarification soon.
