Attempting to clear salary and improve their roster, the New York Knicks were said to have dangled Iman Shumpert in trade offers last season. Alas, no deal was ever made and Shumpert remained with the organization.

For what it’s worth, the New York Knicks have suggested they like what Iman Shumpert brings to the table and would prefer to keep him on their roster, though that sounds like damage control. You don’t attempt to move a player if you’re that attached to them and given that, it’s the belief of Basketball Insiders that the New York Knicks will likely attempt to trade Iman Shumpert again this season.

"Shumpert is eligible for an early extension. It’s unlikely he gets an overwhelming offer from the Knicks prior to October 31 deadline which means a trip to free agency is likely in the cards next summer. If those other wing performers play well, it wouldn’t surprise if the Knicks once again float Shumpert’s name around the league early on."

Not only did the New York Knicks improve their wing position this season with the addition of both Cleanthony Early and Travis Outlaw, but Iman Shumpert is essentially the Knicks’ most valuable trade asset at the current moment. Given that, if the Knicks are looking to improve their roster via trade this season it seems obvious that Shumpert would be the most likely to be shipped out.
