The bar may have been set a little high, but Rubio has proven himself to be a very good floor general. That said, he still has a few issues with his game, namely his shooting stroke. Yes, he has improved though it’s still something that Ricky Rubio needs to better if he’s to take that next step.
Aware of such, the point guard has spent his offseason working with a shooting coach and now hopes to get a contract extension done with the Minnesota Timberwolves. It’s a sentiment echoed by the T’Wolves’ front office and while they’re optimistic that a deal will get completed, they do have some money concerns.
There hasn’t been any public mention of numbers at this point so it’s difficult to say if Ricky Rubio’s camp is asking for too much or if the Minnesota Timberwolves are trying to be cheap. Still, with Kevin Love now a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, it seems as if the T’Wolves are Ricky Rubio’s team until Andrew Wiggins emerges as a star player. Given that, you’d expect Minnesota to find middle ground with their star point.
