Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith: Josh McCown to remain starting quarterback
By Jack Crosby
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went on national television on Thursday night and, well, let’s just say things didn’t go as planned. Okay, that might be an understatement. The Bucs were rolled by the Atlanta Falcons, 56-14, and starting quarterback Josh McCown, who left the game with a hand injury, did not have the best night.
Despite that, though, head coach Lovie Smith reassured the media on Friday that McCown will still be the starting quarterback going forward, as long as he remains healthy.
While this is good news for McCown, whom the team signed to a two-year deal in free agency this offseason, this may not please a lot of Bucs fans that want to see Mike Glennon get the chance to take this team over.

In the blowout loss on Thursday night, McCown finished his abbreviated night 5-of-12 for 58 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. In relief, Glennon finished 17-of-24 with 121 yards and one touchdown. You can see where some Bucs fans may have a gripe.
Still, the fact remains that since the day Smith walked through the doors as the head coach, he has wanted McCown as his starter, and it appears that it will be remaining that way for the foreseeable future.
