Minnesota Vikings fill Adrian Peterson’s roster spot with WR

The Minnesota Vikings made a move to fill the roster spot left vacant when running back Adrian Peterson was placed on the exempt/commissioner’s permission list earlier this week, signing wide receiver Charles Johnson from the practice squad of the Cleveland Browns.
The team announced the move via its website.

Johnson was a seventh-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2013 that did not make the final cut and was signed to their practice squad.
The Browns signed Johnson to the active roster, but he did not appear in any regular season games.
He was cut at the end of the preseason by Cleveland and signed to their practice squad.
He had six catches for 65 yards for the Browns during the preseason, playing in all four games. He appeared in two preseason games for the Packers in 2013, but did not catch a pass.
He was a second-team All-American at Division II Grand Valley State as a senior in 2012, leading the team with 72 receptions, 1,199 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. He had 56 receptions for 1,030 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior after transferring from Antelope Valley College.
He began his collegiate career at Eastern Kentucky and had three catches for 63 yards in 2007.
He was out of football in 2009 and redshirted at Grand Valley State in 2010.
