The Baltimore Ravens won a nail-bitter in Cleveland on Sunday afternoon but they suffered a loss that they didn’t see coming and didn’t want to have to deal with. As if the Ravens offense hasn’t been depleted enough, tight end Dennis Pitta got bad news on his hip this afternoon.

It’s news that is being buried by Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti’s press conference on Monday but the team had actual football news to announce. According to head coach Jim Harbaugh, Pitta underwent hip surgery and will be out for the rest of the season.

It’s a loss that not only hurts the Ravens but it hurts Pitta too. He inked a massive contract this offseason to stay in Baltimore but he’s now missed significant time over the last two seasons with a hip injury.
He may bounce back, but the Ravens offense will need to again replace Pitta’s production and presence on offense and this time around they’re playing a pretty penny to do so.
