Although no one figured the Florida Gators would be title contenders after finishing 4-8 in 2013, most believed they’d be much improved in 2014.

After a 65-0 win over the Eastern Michigan Eagles in their season-opener, the Gators survived the Kentucky Wildcats 36-30 in triple overtime. The Gators had one big bright spot in that game – sophomore wide receiver Demarcus Robinson. Robinson caught 15 passes for 216 yards and touchdowns (he had six receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown against the Eagles).

The Gators entered Saturday’s game with the third-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide looking to turn some heads. Despite being tied at 21 in the third quarter, thanks to four Tide turnovers, the Tide absolutely dominated the Gators and earned a 42-21 win. During the game, Robinson had two just two catches for 14 yards. Quarterback Jeff Driskel was awful, completing nine-of-28 passes for 93 yards with one touchdown pass, one touchdown run and two interceptions.

On Sunday, one popular Gator twitter account asked fans to “RT (retweet) if they wanted to see a new face at QB” and attached a picture of the Gators’ two highly-touted freshman signal-callers, Treon Harris and Will Grier.

Robinson retweeted the tweet.

Harris has already been impressive, completed both of his attempts for 148 yards and two touchdowns against the Eagles. Grier was ranked as the country’s number two pro style quarterback in the class of 2014.
