The Miami Dolphins season started off very promising thanks to a victory over the New England Patriots, but after suffering two blowout losses, a shakeup could be in the works.

More from Miami Dolphins

While the Miami Dolphins defense has been very poor, the offense hasn’t pulled its weight either. Much of that blame (right or wrong) is being placed upon quarterback Ryan Tannehill who could be benched. That’s the word from the Miami Herald who says the coaching staff is currently considering the move.

"The Miami Dolphins are considering a quarterback change this week.A change is not certain but coaches are meeting this afternoon to weigh whether benching starter Ryan Tannehill in favor of reserve Matt Moore is the right decision to make in the run up to Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders, multiple sources are saying."

While Ryan Tannehill hasn’t played up to his expectation level, Matt Moore isn’t exactly the type of guy you’d be rushing to start either. Given that, you have to wonder if the talk of a benching isn’t more of a plan to wake Ryan Tannehill out of his slumber. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time a coaching staff has used being benched as a motivational tactic.

On the flip side, Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin refused to name a quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders, though if there’s ever an opportunity for Ryan Tannehill to get back on track, that’s the game.

Seems a bit shocking to think the Miami Dolphins would make a change this early in the season, though at 1-2, jobs are going to be on the line if things don’t improve quickly.
