Talk about a rough Sunday for the Minnesota Vikings. Not only did they lose their game to the New Orleans Saints, they lost starting quarterback Matt Cassel for the foreseeable future thanks to a broken foot.

Those weren’t the only losses for the Minnesota Vikings however as they’ll now be without tight end Kyle Rudolph for the next six weeks after he undergoes surgery for a groin injury.

Rudolph, who caught three of his five targets before being removed from Sunday’s game looked incredibly dejected on the sideline, obviously aware that the injury he suffered was serious. Of course, he didn’t know just how serious the injury was until the team performed an MRI which showed a sports hernia which will require surgery.

Kyle Rudolph has proven himself to be a very solid security blanket for Minnesota Vikings quarterback’s in the past and would have likely filled that role to an even greater capacity now with rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater under center.

So far the Minnesota Vikings have lost not only Rudolph but also Matt Cassel and Adrian Peterson in the matter of a few weeks. Needless to say, it’s a tough time for the organization who is dealing with a significantly depleted offense.
