Although Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge continues to suggest a trade involving Rajon Rondo is unlikely, it seems the franchise is doing a relatively nice job at making a sales pitch.

A free agent to be at season end, rumors have swirled about a trade involving the All-Star point guard but Ainge and the Celtics have continually deflected any such assumption. In fact, Ainge feels Rajon Rondo will have his best season as a professional with the Boston Celtics this season.
“I expect the best year of his career,” Ainge added. “He’s worked really hard this summer and I think Rondo’s going to have the best year of his life. That’s what I expect.”
While that’s a kind sentiment on the part of Danny Ainge, the basis for such seems rather bleak.
Rondo wasn’t exactly himself last season when he played and while he was coming off an injury, you have to wonder if the ACL tear will be something that hinders the point guard for the rest of his career. More than that, Rajon Rondo will be surrounded with a sub-par roster which isn’t exactly the way to producing a career season. Sure, it’s possible he might score more, but he’s likely to be less effective and his numbers could dip given the talent around him.
Certainly seems as if the Boston Celtics and namely GM Danny Ainge are doing everything they can to keep Rajon Rondo’s perceived value rather high.
