The Green Bay Packers knew that coming into the season, they’d likely have problems at the tight end position. They probably didn’t envision them being this bad, however.

While quarterback Aaron Rodgers has looked every part of the former MVP that he is, the tight end position has essentially been non-existent in the passing game. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the Green Bay Press-Gazette suggests that tight end play in the running game has been woeful, especially from Richard Rogers who has been deemed a ‘disaster’ in the rushing attack.
"But something’s not working through three games, and part of the problem is tight end. Neither of the tight ends sharing the playing time, third-round pick Richard Rodgers and fifth-year pro Andrew Quarless, is a good run blocker. Rodgers, in fact has been disaster in that part of the game."
Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy called out starting running back Eddie Lacy on Monday afternoon (this after Lacy somewhat called himself out), though it seems rather evident that the rushing woes aren’t completely on Lacy himself.
It was expected by some that Richard Rodgers would work his way into the Green Bay Packers starting lineup, however with zero catches on just one target combined with his terrible blocking, his playing time could be cut dramatically. Andrew Quarless is likely to be the biggest benefactor of such a move, though he hasn’t exactly inspired much confidence either.
The loss of Jermichael Finely is proving difficult to replace.
