The Cleveland Browns are showing the kind of fight that fans hoped they would have this season and it’s resulting in a big boost in team support. But there is a lot of work to do before the Browns are truly competitive in the AFC North and part of that is finding some consistency at running back.

More from Cleveland Browns

To negate the loss of Trent Richardson, the Browns signed Ben Tate away from the Houston Texans this offseason but he hasn’t gotten off to the best start with the team. According to the Akron Beacon-Journal, Tate is expected to regain his role as the starting running back for the Browns once his knee heals up.

"Running backs coach Wilbert Montgomery expects Ben Tate to return to his starting role once he returns from a sprained right knee, but undrafted rookie Isaiah Crowell seems destined to receive a heavier workload."

Tate hasn’t been all that impressive in his time with the Browns, but he’s been banged up for almost all of it so he can’t be blamed too much. When he returns, having the starting role earmarked for him his a huge vote of confidence but he needs to be careful of how hard he pushes himself.

Should Tate go down with an injury again, the Browns are quickly learning that their are a pair of backs behind him ready to spring up and seize their moments to be starters in the NFL.
