Dallas Mavericks don’t expect to have any 20-point scorers
By Bryan Rose
Outside of the 2012-13 season where the Dallas Mavericks finished a shocking 41-41, the franchise has not had a season where somebody didn’t average at least 20-points since 1998-1999.

However, according to Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban it’s very possible nobody on the roster will average 20-points this season thanks to Dallas’ immense depth.
“I’m not expecting anybody on our team to be a 20-point scorer,” Cuban said at a Mavericks press conference. “Not Dirk. I don’t want him to be a 20-point scorer. Seriously. Monta (Ellis) has that capability. Chandler (Parsons) has that capability. Dirk has that capability. Richard Jefferson’s got that capability. Jameer (Nelson could score) 15. Raymond (Felton) could do 15, if that was the focus, but that’s not our focus.”
While both Monta Ellis and Chandler Parsons have that ability (in addition to Dirk Nowitzki, obviously) suggesting that Richard Jefferson could put up anything close to 20-points a game is grasping for straws. It’s also going to be difficult for Jameer Nelson and Raymond Felton to hit the 15-point mark because of that previously mentioned depth.
Given that, it’s still reasonable to think Dirk Nowitzki and/or Monta Ellis could average 20-points this season while Chandler Parsons will likely be in 16-17 range. It seems difficult to believe that Jefferson, Nelson or Felton will eat into their numbers that badly though they will have their occasional scoring outburst.
Having somebody that can average 20-points per night or not, the Dallas Mavericks should still be one of the best in the Western Conference.
