Everything is in place for a wonderful and historic night, except for the weather which could threaten to delay or possibly even rain out the game. That’s the word from the Washington Times who says New York will be hit with rain throughout much of Thursday.
"The 40-year-old shortstop is set to play his final game at Yankee Stadium on Thursday night against Baltimore. The National Weather Service forecast called for a 70 percent chance of showers during the day, tapering off to 20 percent at night."
The fact that showers are expected to move out in the evening is a wonderful sign and the evening should go on as planned assuming the storm continues on its same path. Of course, weather is rather unpredictable and we’ve seen rain linger much longer than expected before, so it’s no guarantee that the game won’t deal with a weather delay.
With the regular season coming to an end on Monday there would be time to re-schedule the game if it was called though given the game will not likely impact the Baltimore Orioles or New York Yankees in the standings, the game would not be played.
Hopefully Mother Nature decides to play nice and Derek Jeter’s final home game with the New York Yankees is dry and memorable for all baseball fans.
