The Minnesota Timberwolves finally put together an offseason that fans can feel good about — which is saying a lot since the summer saw an All-Star forward traded away.

But the Wolves added some killer talent in Anthony Bennett, Andrew Wiggins and Thaddeus Young and the promise is now through the roof in Minnesota. NBA scribe Chuck Myron opines that if the Wolves were in the Eastern Conference, they may be able to reach the postseason this year.

Too bad they’re in the West.

"I think the Wolves can make the playoffs, but I don’t think they will. The West is just too tough. But Rubio-Martin-Wiggins-Young-Pekovic is a starting five full of pretty competent guys. Rubio and Wiggins have the potential to really take off, so they’re the wild cards here. And Gorgui Dieng can be a difference-maker off the bench if he doesn’t wind up taking over the starting job from Pek at some point. That’s a team that I’d probably slot in the postseason if they played in the East. But, alas, the Target Center is too far west by a few miles."

Minnesota has a lot of promise moving forward and there’s a relatively good chance that they’re going to be in the postseason at some point in the very near future. It might not be this year though as the core they have needs to grow a little first, but it’s the first core the Wolves have had in years that has fans willing to wait for it.
