Orlando Magic rumors: Aaron Gordon not in rotation?
By Bryan Rose
If you’re expected to be fighting for a spot in the NBA’s lottery and have a high valued pick on your roster, the belief is that you’ll play said player immediately.

That might not be the plan of Orlando Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn though as noted by John Denton who hints rookie Aaron Gordon will ‘greatly’ need to improve his shooting and ball-handling skills to be part of the rotation.
"As for rookie Aaron Gordon, the No. 4 pick in last June’s NBA Draft, he heads into his first NBA season knowing that he will have to fight for minutes because of the talent ahead of him on the roster. Regularly the biggest and most athletic player on the floor all through high school and college, the 19-year-old Gordon will now have to greatly improve on his shooting and ball-handling skills throughout the season if he is going to push his way into head coach Jacque Vaughn’s rotation as a rookie."
Aaron Gordon essentially comes into the NBA much like Blake Griffin before him, immense athletic talent that allows him to fly above the rim, but lacking on some of the more fundamental aspects of the game. That’s not to say Aaron Gordon can’t learn the tools of the trade, though it will take some time.
Of course, keeping Gordon out of the Orlando Magic’s rotation because he lacks those skills might be a poor decision given experience is the best learning tool.
Both Tobias Harris and Maurice Harkless look to be ahead of Aaron Gordon on the Orlando Magic depth chart, so the former Arizona product may want to start working on his ball-handling skills ASAP.
