Phoenix Suns, Eric Bledsoe agree to 5-year, $70M deal
By Josh Hill
After a summer in which the Phoenix Suns and guard Eric Bledsoe were in a stand off about his contract, the two sides have finally come together to make something happen. It was sounding like Bledsoe was going to have to go the Greg Monroe route and settle for a qualifying offer but he ended up getting exactly what he wanted.

Bledsoe was holding out for a max contract with the Suns and while they met him with serious resistance the entire summer, the team has handed over the checkbook. According to Yahoo! Sports insider Adrian Wojnarowksi, the Suns have and Bledsoe have agreed on a five-year, $70 million contract.
In short, that’s an amazing deal for a guy who was not far off from having to take a small qualifying offer.
Efforts were ramped up on Wednesday to get Bledsoe to agree to a deal and it seems that’s what happened. As Woj points out, there are some compromises to be had as while Bledsoe got a massive contract, there are no options for him to get out of it at any point over the next half-decade.
It was rumored that the Minnesota Timberwolves could make a run at Bledsoe in the 11th hour of his restricted free agency, but Phoenix put an end to that. They buckled on their stance of not maxing him out, but both sides can now come back together as happy parties.
