The Chicago Bulls don’t really need another star on their roster (assuming Derrick Rose returns to form) though they’d apparently open one with welcome arms if they were to become available via trade.

As one of the deepest teams in the NBA, the Chicago Bulls have plenty of assets to make a deal if they’re so inclined. Rumors of Taj Gibson being shipped out have swirled all season and according to Alex Kennedy, the Bulls may use their depth to acquire a disgruntled star if one is to be placed on the trade block.
"With that said, if a disgruntled star becomes available – similar to how Kevin Love was available this summer – Chicago will definitely be in the mix because they have nice assets and are an attractive destination for players."
While the Chicago Bulls would certainly entertain the thought of trading for a star who has been placed on block (as would most), it’s not guaranteed that Taj Gibson specifically would be the main trade bait. He is likely to be their most coveted and desired player in trade talks however. Given that, it would have to be a pretty unique scenario for the Chicago Bulls to actually pull the trigger as defensive minded big men on team friendly contracts like Gibson don’t come around all that often.
For now the Chicago Bulls are expected to go into the season with the roster they currently have, though as we’ve seen, their front office is always looking for ways to improve.
