Dallas Mavericks might miss NBA playoffs in 2014-15?
By Bryan Rose
Few expected the Dallas Mavericks to be as solid as they were during the 2013-14 campaign, though the team did lose some key veteran talent during the offseason.

Gone are the likes of Shawn Marion and Vince Carter, replaced by talent like Chandler Parsons and Tyson Chandler. Most would assume that swap (talent wise) would favor the Dallas Mavericks, though Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders isn’t so sure.
Kennedy apparently wasn’t a big fan of what Mark Cuban and Donnie Nelson did in the offseason and worries the Dallas Mavericks could be on the outside looking in when it comes to the postseason.
Asked to give his current playoff teams in the Western Conference, Kennedy left the Dallas Mavericks off his list.
"As of right, I’d say my West playoff teams are the Clippers, Spurs, Thunder, Warriors, Blazers, Rockets, Grizzlies and Suns. The Mavericks might make it, but I wasn’t really impressed by their summer. I think the Suns will only get better this year."
While some might take that as a slight to the Mavs, simply put the Western Conference is nothing short of a beast and it’s very possible a 50-win season may not even get you the eighth seed. That said, it’s difficult to envision the re-tooled Dallas Mavericks not having a better record than the Memphis Grizzlies or Phoenix Suns. It’s very possible they could be better than the Houston Rockets as well, assuming health remains on their side.
