Kevin Durant says he plays as LeBron James on NBA 2K15

Not only does Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant enjoy playing real life basketball, the reigning NBA MVP also enjoys playing the virtual game.

What Durant doesn’t like is playing himself in the annual NBA 2K video game series.

Believing that playing as yourself is a bit ‘arrogant’, Kevin Durant told Jimmy Fallon that he plays as LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

One of the first things most people do when the buy/rent the game is to create themselves, so I’m not really sure playing as yourself would be deemed ‘arrogant’ even if you are Kevin Durant. Regardless, the former Texas talent doesn’t seem comfortable playing as himself so he opts for the next best thing in James.

For somebody as competitive as Durant, it’s a bit shocking to see that he picks LeBron James as the player he chooses to play with as you’d think he’d pick somebody lower ranked or even a teammate like Russell Westbrook.

Given we know this about Durant now, you can’t help but wonder who LeBron James plays as when he fires up NBA 2K15. Do you think LeBron, who has a bit of an ego, plays as himself? Does he play as Kevin Durant? So many questions, so few answers.

It seems like most in the NBA prefer to play as themselves, so it seems Kevin Durant’s just a little different.
