When the Phoenix Suns signed Eric Bledsoe to a five-year, $70 million dollar contract on Wednesday evening, many wondered what that meant for Goran Dragic.

A potential free agent at season end, Dragic has already stated he plans to opt-out of his contract but will ‘quickly’ re-sign with the organization. Of course, that was stated before the Phoenix Suns backed up the bank trucks for Eric Bledsoe as they previously offered him a four-year, $48 million dollar deal.
Given that there’s understandable concern as to Goran Dragic’s future in the Valley of the Sun though the Arizona Republic says Bledsoe’s deal shouldn’t impact Goran Dragic re-signing with the Phoenix Suns.
“We don’t have many long-term commitments,” Suns general manager Ryan McDonough said. “We have every intention of keeping Goran in a Suns uniform as long as possible. We know he loves Phoenix. There’s plenty of money for Goran next year or when it comes up. We fully anticipate taking care of him.”
While the Phoenix Suns can currently afford to bring Goran Dragic back, between he, Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas they’ll have a significant amount of coin invested in three undersized guards. Of course, that’s not to say all three will stick on the roster assuming the Suns are to bring Dragic back.
It’s certainly a unique way to build a roster but after turning the corner last year, who’s to question McDonough after building a very solid roster that has plenty of room for growth.
