The weather allowed for a game to be played and fittingly enough in storybook fashion, Jeter ended his Yankee Stadium career by getting a walk off single, to set the sports universe on fire. Many people feel that Jeter should end his MLB career on that note, but Jeter wants to play in his teams final series against the Boston Red Sox.
However, Jeter won’t play in tonight’s series opener against Boston, ‘The Captain’ will get a well deserved night off.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi told reporters that Jeter will play in this series, so don’t speculate that the Yankees will sit him for the rest of the season. It’s going to be interesting to see how Boston fans treat Jeter. Last season, when Mariano Rivera played his last game ta Fenway Park, the Boston crowd gave him a roaring ovation.
